Putting food on the table shouldn’t be a source of shame or stress, but for many families, it is. If your budget is stretched thin or an unexpected bill has emptied your pantry, food assistance is available, and asking for it takes real strength. Christian Resource Center (CRC) in Cedar Park offers free food resources to families going through a hard season, no questions asked and no strings attached.

This guide covers the food assistance options available through CRC, how to get connected quickly, and where else to turn for local food assistance if you need more support.

Why Food Assistance Matters

Food assistance is simply support that helps people put meals on the table when money is tight. It might come in the form of groceries from a pantry, help applying for benefits. Whatever the source, the goal is the same: no family should have to go hungry while they work through a difficult chapter of life.

At CRC, food assistance isn’t about handing out a bag of groceries and moving on. It’s about meeting people with kindness, listening to what’s going on, and helping families find steady footing again.

Food Help for Families at CRC

CRC’s campus offers several forms of free support to help individuals and families meet everyday needs:

  • Weekly Food Pantry — Groceries and pantry staples are available to eligible individuals and families.
  • Diapers and Baby Supplies — Essential supplies are available to support eligible families with infants and toddlers.
  • Clothes Closet — Free clothing is available to eligible individuals and families.
  • Life Skills Coaching — Practical guidance and support to help individuals and families build skills and move forward.
  • Referral Support — Connections to additional community resources when needs extend beyond the services available at CRC.

Eligibility Note: Food, clothing, and diaper assistance is available to residents in the following ZIP codes: 78613, 78641, 78642, 78645, 78717, 78726, 78732, 78750, and 78759.

For food assistance, no appointment is needed, but you must visit CRC during designated Food Pantry hours: Mondays from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM or Tuesdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Please bring a valid ID and proof of address, as both are required to receive food assistance. You can also visit our Get Help page for additional information about available resources and eligibility requirements.

Local Food Assistance Beyond CRC

Sometimes families need more support than one pantry alone can offer. That’s where our Referral Partners come in. Our team can personally connect you with other trusted local food assistance options, including:

  • Additional food pantries and mobile distribution sites in Williamson and surrounding counties
  • Help applying for SNAP, Medicaid, and CHIP benefits
  • Free or reduced-price school meal programs for kids
  • Senior food assistance and transportation to pick up groceries

If your home church has a Benevolence Fund, that’s another great place to ask about food assistance for rent, utilities, or groceries during a tight month.

Free Food Resources in Central Texas

Beyond CRC, there are strong regional and statewide free food resources worth knowing about:

  • Central Texas Food Bank — the region’s largest hunger-relief organization, with a searchable map of food pantries and distribution sites across 21 counties.
  • 211 Texas — a free, 24/7 helpline that connects Texans with food pantries, meal programs, and other local resources by simply dialing 2-1-1.
  • Texas Health and Human Services SNAP Program — information on applying for food benefits like SNAP and WIC.

Bookmark these sites, or call 2-1-1 directly, if you ever need food assistance outside of CRC’s hours or service area.
